The second edition of the European Humanitarian Forum is coming up this March 2023! In the run-up, the Climate Action Accelerator attended the roundtable “Exploring the Climate Finance Ecosystem” on February 27th, 2023, co-organised by DG ECHO and the Egmont Royal Institute for International Relations.

About the roundtable

On February 27th, 2023, the Climate Action Accelerator participated in the invite-only expert roundtable “Exploring the Climate Finance Ecosystem, as part of a series of events leading up to the European Humanitarian Forum 2023. The discussion revolved around mobilising and streamlining climate finance for adaptation actions in affected communities and how these efforts can be integrated in humanitarian and development programming.

It’s strategic for aid organisations using a needs-based approach to integrate mitigation, adaptation and resilience as part of the same effort to upgrade their capacity to respond to current and future crises. At field level, solutions are often the same and feed into each other. Decarbonisation strengthens the ability of local actors and populations to face the consequences of climate disruption. The Climate Action Accelerator will be present in person in Brussels for the European Humanitarian Forum on the 20th and 21st of March, to accelerate climate action in the aid sector and continue these important conversations.
