As the climate crisis intensifies and we head towards a world beyond 2 degrees, we are witnessing the growing costs to human societies of insufficient mobilisation and action. Populations worldwide have already become more vulnerable to extreme events and indirect impacts, and the habitat and livelihoods of hundreds of millions more are under threat.
Our annual event will gather key actors that provide essential services to populations around the world to discuss the critical importance of stepping up in times of uncertainty and reinforcing the delivery of commitments. Building on Geneva’s unique role as an international hub, we will explore how high social trust sectors like health can adapt to the climate emergency while doing their part.
We will showcase inspiring, concrete examples from both local and international organisations who are proving every day that climate action in line with the scientific consensus is not only feasible but even crucial to better meet people’s needs. With this momentum, we will identify ways of better collaborating to address this global challenge, through better use of the comparative strengths of each and every actor, enhanced interaction, scale-up and shared resources where it makes sense.
