About the collective cycle
Village Pilote | ONG AGORA | CASADES | DEMTOU HUMANITAIRE | ALPHADEV | ONG CONCEPT | YMCA Senegal | SOLTHIS Senegal
Like the first collective cycle, which brought together 5 African local and national NGOs active mainly in humanitarian aid, this cycle aims to help organisations adopt sustainable, resilient and low-carbon development models, while strengthening their capacity to fulfil their missions in increasingly challenging contexts.
A first kick-off workshop was organised online in November 2024 with the eight partner NGOs. This inaugural event was an opportunity to officially launch the cycle and present the main stages of the collaborative approach, the culmination of which is the production, for each NGO, of a strategic roadmap designed to increase their climate resilience and reduce their ecological footprint.
A second workshop was held in December 2024 in Dakar, this time in person. It brought together teams from the Climate Action Accelerator and focal points from each of the eight partner NGOs. The workshop provided an opportunity to present in detail the simplified methodology for measuring their waste and carbon impact, and to lay the foundations for designing climate roadmaps. Participants worked on the first selection of their solutions and the structure of their roadmaps, and worked on identifying the means needed to integrate resilience and sustainability into their activities.

A year-long co-constructed support programme
Throughout 2025, the collective cycle will roll out through virtual and in-person workshops as well as fortnightly meetings with the focal points from each NGO. Thematic webinars will enrich the process as well as the skills for each participating organisation and the finalised roadmaps will be published and presented to the community of action of the Accelerator. CASADES
CASADES (Le Comité d’Appui et de Soutien Au Développement Économique et Social en Casamance) was set up in Dakar in 1997 as a result of a brainstorming session between students from the natural region of Casamance who had been affected by the conflict there and were determined to do their part to bring about a definitive return to peace.
CASADES was recognised as a non-profit association in 2006 under number 14GRKD/sb. CASADES has more than fifteen years’ experience in implementing development projects and programmes for disadvantaged populations, either on its own or as part of a consortium. Over the years, CASADES has developed a great deal of expertise in structuring and supporting community umbrella organisations, to make them drivers of change and promoters of endogenous development.
DEMTOU HUMANITAIRE
DEMTOU is neither an acronym nor an acronym; it stands for virtue and help. This word concentrates the five values that the organisation strives to bring to the most vulnerable on a daily basis through its multifaceted actions. Created in Yaoundé in July 2016, DEMTOU is an organisation governed by Cameroonian law, without distinction of any kind. Its aim is to provide assistance to people affected by natural disasters, man-made crises, epidemics and to communities in post-crisis periods. It is also committed to community development.
ALPHADEV
ALPHADEV is a Senegalese organisation founded in 2003 with the aim of working for the socio-economic advancement of women, children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds towards a fair and equitable society through participatory and sustainable development.
For ALPHADEV, literacy is not an end in itself, but an essential lever for the socio-economic emancipation of citizens. ALPHADEV’s concept of literacy goes beyond access to written codes. It aims for sustainable development at grassroots level, so that communities are able to take charge of their own development, thereby fostering the emergence of a fairer, more prosperous society.
This is why its intervention strategy is essentially based on the use of the Reflect approach, which is a participatory learning approach linked to social change and local development.
ONG CONCEPT
Concept is a hub for energy and environmental issues, with a commitment to four projects: improved cookstoves, solar energy, the installation of biodigesters and the production of salt from the Sine Saloum and its environmental challenges. Concept is implementing an ever-expanding programme to support the craft industry (creation and management of community services, organisation and capacity-building for craftspeople, improving the content and management of apprenticeships, leading to the creation of the Senegal Apprenticeship Department). A number of initiatives incorporating environmental issues have been promoted, including the management of certain products that are toxic and have a negative impact on the environment.
