About Solthis
Solthis is an international solidarity NGO working to improve the health of populations, particularly the most vulnerable, in countries with limited resources. It is committed to ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare and upholding the right to health.
Initially involved in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Africa, Solthis has gradually expanded its scope to include known and emerging infectious diseases, sexual and reproductive health rights issues, and the health of women and children. The original approach, which focused on training health workers, strengthening health facilities and providing technical assistance to our institutional partners, has been complemented by an approach centred on the needs of health system users and the support and empowerment of user networks and communities. For 22 years, it has been working with local actors in West and Central Africa on prevention and access to quality care by sustainably strengthening health systems and services.
Our partnership
Solthis signed a partnership agreement with Climate Action Accelerator in 2025. By joining the initiative, Solthis is committed to strengthening the sustainability of its health activities among vulnerable populations, who are often the most affected by climate change, by reducing its environmental impact and accelerating its transition to a low-carbon organisation.
Our joint collaboration and research programme includes, among other things:
- support in defining innovative approaches and interventions within Solthis’ health programmes in order to:
- minimise carbon emissions from project activities;
- contribute to climate mitigation or adaptation;
- increase the resilience of health systems to climate risks.
- the inclusion of Solthis Senegal in the collective cycle of development of a roadmap for national actors;
- the review of the climate and environmental elements of Solthis’ operational strategy;
- sharing with Solthis’ partners on the adaptation of health projects towards a resilient, sustainable and low-carbon model.
Current projects with Solthis
Collective cycle
In November 2024, the Climate Action Accelerator launched its second collective cycle with eight national organisations, including Solthis’ Senegal office.
This support cycle aims to help organisations adopt sustainable, resilient and low-carbon development models while strengthening their actions in favour of populations and communities and their capacity to cope with the consequences of global warming.

Seneya
In March 2025, Solthis, in partnership with Climate Action Accelerator and other Senegalese partners, launched the ‘Seneya’ project, funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) and the S. Foundation. SENEYA stands for ‘Health, Environment, Ecosystems, including Adaptation’ in French. This innovative ‘One Health’ project is a partnership between Solthis, CAA and local actors, focusing on the interdependent health of people, animals and ecosystems in Sédhiou, Senegal. The project will use various methodologies, including the Climate Valuation Methodology, to define and implement climate resilience interventions at the facility level, and to enable communities and health workers to co-create sustainable solutions.
