About Partenariat pour le développement de l'enfant et de la famille (PDEF)

Founded in 2009, the NGO PDEF—formerly the Fédération du Baol—is an umbrella non-profit organisation working to protect and support the development of vulnerable children and families.

It changed its legal status from an association to a non-governmental organisation (NGO) in 2021, and changed its name in 2023 to become PDEF (Partenariat pour le développement de l’Enfant et de la Famille / Partnership for Child and Family Development), to better reflect its vision.

PDEF now operates in five regions of Senegal (Diourbel, Kaolack, Fatick, Kaffrine, and Tambacounda), in partnership with several national and international funders who support it in carrying out its vision.

Our partnership

PDEF has joined the third collective cycle of the Climate Action Accelerator to accelerate its low-carbon transition and move towards a more sustainable, resilient development model. This cycle provides a collaborative framework to:

  • Better understand and regularly measure the organisation’s environmental footprint (carbon and waste)
  • Identify the most relevant solutions and actions to implement in order to integrate sustainable practices
  • Build an environmental roadmap tailored to its context and challenges
  • Roll out and implement the first concrete solutions, including through support in securing funding

This represents an opportunity for PDEF to strengthen its impact while becoming part of a collective drive for innovation and resilience in the face of climate change.
